Handing a workspace's billing over

Source

Running customs for clients? You can create a workspace, build it, then hand its billing to the client who uses it. They take over paying and become the workspace’s owner, and you keep your access. In the app, this is a transfer.

Only whoever pays for the workspace, on a plan that includes transfers: the Scale plan and custom plans. If you don’t see Transfers under Workspace settings → Workspaces, your plan doesn’t include it.

  1. Go to Workspace settings → Workspaces → Transfers and click New transfer.
  2. Pick the Workspace, and enter your client’s email address under Send to. They don’t need a Custom One account yet.
  3. If you like, turn on Choose the plan for them. They’ll find that plan already picked when they open the link, and can still change it. Otherwise they choose their own.
  4. Under What you keep funding, set Days funded and Leads funded (see below).
  5. Set Link valid (days): 15 days by default, up to 90.
  6. Click Send transfer.

Your client gets an email with a link to take the workspace over.

A workspace can only have one pending transfer at a time. To send it to a different address, revoke the first one and send a new one.

The decision is made when you send. From then on, you only fund the workspace while your client decides, within the limits you set:

  • Days funded: 15 by default, up to 90. When they run out, the workspace’s customs go offline: visitors see that the custom is disabled, and no new leads come in. Your client can still accept until the link expires, and the customs come back when they do.
  • Leads funded: no limit by default. Once they’re used up, the customs stay online until the link expires, but new leads no longer get their video and aren’t billed to you. They’re kept on hold, and get their video as soon as someone pays for the workspace again: your client once they accept, or you if you take it back.

Those leads are billed to you, at your usual rate. With no days and no leads, the customs go offline as soon as you send.

If your client declines, the customs go offline straight away. If the link expires without an answer, they go offline too. Either way nothing is deleted: customs, contacts, brands and media stay where they are, and you can still edit the workspace.

Your transfers are listed under Transfers, with what you still fund and their status: Pending, Accepted, Declined, Expired or Revoked.

While a transfer is pending:

  • +7 days extends your funding, and brings the customs back online if they had stopped.
  • Revoke cancels the transfer. You’re paying for the workspace again, and its customs come back online.

If customs went offline because of a transfer that wasn’t accepted, Put back online brings them back.

The link opens a page that shows the offer. To answer it, they sign in, or create their account, with the address you sent it to. Signed in with another address, they’re asked to sign out and come back with the right one.

  • Not a Custom One customer yet: they pick a plan, with yours already picked if you chose one, and pay for it. They get 30% off their plan and their out-of-plan leads, for as long as they stay. It’s our offer: nothing comes off your bill.
  • Already a customer: with Add it to my plan, the workspace joins the plan they already have. There’s nothing new to pay, so there’s no discount. If their plan has no room for another workspace, they’re offered a larger plan, or sometimes to archive one of their own workspaces instead.

They can also decline it, after a confirmation. While the transfer is pending, a banner in their settings reminds them, and they get one reminder email three days before it runs out.

Nothing inside the workspace changes. What changes is who pays and who owns it:

  • They become the workspace’s owner. You stay in it as an admin, so you can keep working on their customs, but you no longer see its billing.
  • The billing moves to them: straight away if they already had a plan, once their payment goes through otherwise. The workspace stops counting toward your plan.
  • Customs the transfer took offline come back online. Customs you had unpublished yourself stay unpublished.

You get an email when they accept or decline.
