Set up Google Tag Manager

Source

Google Tag Manager lets you manage every other tag from one place, so it’s a good first connection if you use more than one analytics tool.

  1. Open Google Tag Manager and choose your account.
  2. Your container ID is at the top of the workspace, next to the container name.
  3. It looks like GTM-XXXXXXX.
  1. Open your custom and go to the Tracking tab.
  2. Choose Google Tag Manager.
  3. Paste the container ID and save.

If the ID is rejected, check you’ve copied the container ID and not the account ID — the container one always starts GTM-.

Use GTM’s own Preview mode, open your custom’s public link, and answer a question. The event should appear in the preview panel.

Give it a minute. Reporting in Tag Manager and in the tools behind it is not instant, and an event that hasn’t appeared yet is not the same as one that never arrived.
