The contact step
Every quiz has exactly one Contact info step. It’s where an anonymous visitor becomes a contact you own, and it’s the step that lets you send them anything afterwards.
You can put it anywhere in the flow, including first. Asking for details up front is a real strategy — you keep the contact even if someone abandons the questions halfway. Asking at the end gets you more completions and fewer contacts. Both work; pick deliberately.
What you can ask for
Section titled “What you can ask for”| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Always shown. One field, not a first and last name — one input converts better. |
| Always shown. This is what identifies the person and what result emails go to. | |
| Phone | Optional. Turn it on if you plan to send SMS. You can set a default country code. |
| Custom field | Optional. One extra free-form field — company, city, job title, whatever you need. Give it your own label. |
Each optional field has two switches: whether it shows at all, and whether it’s required. A field can’t be hidden and required — that would leave the visitor nothing to fill in, so Custom One won’t let you publish it.
The button
Section titled “The button”The button label is yours to write. Get My Results is the default and it’s hard to beat: it says what happens next.
Where the details end up
Section titled “Where the details end up”Once someone finishes, they appear in this custom’s People tab. If the same email has been through another one of your customs, it’s the same contact — their details are updated, not duplicated.
Their name and email are also available as merge tags, so your end screen, result page and emails can address them by name.
